18. Under the umbrella of Navy Education Society there are two professional Institution viz. Naval Institute of Technology, Mumbai and Naval Maritime Academy, Visakhapatnam. No priority/preference is stipulated for the children of Defence personnel or Ex-servicemen for the purpose of the admission in NAMAC, Vizag. However, in NIT, Mumbai all seats are reserved for the children of Defence personnel. The following priority is followed amongst these Defence personnel:-

19. Scholarship for Post 10+2 Education
Merit scholarships are admissible for graduation courses to children of all naval pensioners. Besides these scholarships for recognised Vocational Courses of 50 weeks or more duration are also given to sailors’ children only. The rates of scholarship per annum are Rs.3,000/- for day Scholars and Rs.6,000/- for Boarders. Eligibility details are given as under:-

20. Specimen application form for scholarships is placed at annexure-1 and is also available with local Naval Authorities, NCC Units, Zila Sainik Boards and Secretary, Indian Naval Benevolent Association. Typed/neatly handwritten applications are to reach Naval Headquarters by 01 Nov.
I Scholarships for Handicapped Children of Retired Naval Personnel
Scholarships for handicapped children are admissible for first two school going children between ages of 3 to 18 years i.e. for a period of 15 years. The rates are as follows:-
Day Scholar Rs.100/- p.m. & Boarder Rs.200/- p.m.
II. Lump Sum Grant on Death of Naval Pensioner
The lump sum grant-in-aid to Next-of-Kin on death of a pensioner after retirement is as follows:-
Officers:- Rs.15,000/- Sailors:- Rs.7,500/-
III Travel/Incidental Expenses
All sailors on invalidment from service due to TB/Paraplegia/Leprosy etc. are given a rehabilitation grant of Rs.7,500/-
IV. Assistance for Self Employment
Financial assistance upto Rs.20,000/- is given to ex-sailors in indigent circumstances for starting self help economic venture like KIOSKS besides supply of sewing machines etc. to widows.
V. Grant for Marriage of Children
Next-of-Kin of Naval Personnel who die in harness and as pensioner are given grant as under per child upto maximum of two children:- Officers’ Children Rs.20,000/- & Sailors’ Children Rs.10,000/-
VI. Treatment of Ex-Naval Personnel for serious Diseases in Civil Hospitals
21. INBA Medical Benefit Scheme considers reimbursement of balance of medical expenses incurred on serious diseases as covered by KSB/other such organizations depending upon the financial status of the ex-naval personnel. All ex-naval personnel and their eligible dependents (spouse and children below 18 years) who cannot afford to meet these expenses from their own resources are to complete prescribed application form for seeking financial assistance from INBA. The prescribed application form is placed at annexure III. INBA also provides financial assistance for following additional medical treatment/surgeries:-

22. For claiming financial assistance for medical expenses incurred for treatment of serious diseases, ex-naval personnel has to forward the following documents along with the prescribed application form:-
(a) |
Patient copy of bill in original if treated against KSB liability Or Photo copy of the medical bills if not treated against liability of KSB. |
(b) |
Referral of service hospital along with admission and discharge summary of civil hospital. |
(c) |
Whether member of Mediclaim scheme if so details of the same. |
(d) |
Photocopy of Identity Card issued by ZSB/RSB |
(e) |
Details of financial assistance received from KSB/mediclaim/other resources. |
